More Goodbyes
Monday, March 17, 2008 at 5:30 PM The Deskbuddy invited me out to dinner in her new neighbourhood on Saturday. As is the case when you move places in Korea it can be something of a task to finding a new convenience store, local watering hole and places to eat.
We were joined by our friend and ex-colleague Sebastian as he is heading back to New Zealand tomorrow (Tuesday). Samgyeopsal all round it was. On Seb's urging (and against my better judgment) we headed to the Itaebitchwon to meet The Dave. As it happened he had to head back to the metropolis of Paju and so rather than sit down and have a drink we stood in the foyer outside Gekos for half an hour yarning while occasionally being interrupted by various drunk morons. The reason I go to Itaewon every weekend! Not.
Sorry to anyone who regularly goes up there and pisses it up with their friends, but that place is a ghetto.
So after seeing off Dave we headed back south of the Mighty Han to The 'Nam and had a jug of apricot soju over a plate of deep fried goodness.
And that was my Saturday night.
I'll miss Sebastian. A gentleman of infinite wisdom and something of a kindred spirit. Always ready with something witty to crack me up with or equally something disgusting. (Need I mention the stink-pits!?) And on top of that handy in the classroom as well. He's heading home for a short wee while, and then by the sounds of things somewhere in the Middle East.
Goodtimes.
