School Lunch #4

It's 80% finished, and we're on the home stretch in "What I had For Lunch Today".

Clockwise from Top left: Kimchi, Laver (김) and half a Banana, Fried Squid (오징어볶음), Chicken Noodle Soup (닭곰탕) and the ever present Steamed Rice (쌀밥).

It's like someone knew I was suffering from a slight head cold! The Chicken Noodle Soup was scrumptious and just what I needed to power through the afternoon of mind numbing meetings and Korean power points! Although it could have done with some salt and pepper. I have thought about investing in a small salt and pepper shaker, but not entirely sure it would go down too well with the (Korean) staff in the lunch room. Would it be some sort of insult adding salt and pepper? (And surely the Laver and Kimchi are salty enough? Right?)

I'm not keen on the cephalopod to be honest. Because it's made in such quantity it tends to go a bit rubbery. However having a half dozen mini sheets of Laver is good fun for creating your own Kimchi and Rice pockets and showing off to your foreign colleagues how adept you are at using chopsticks.

I had the Banana to go, but ended up giving it to one of my students in the hallway back to my office.

What will our final episode in the series bring? Fridays are traditionally one extreme or the other, so stay tuned. In the meantime, Thursday's lunch gets a...
