Incheon to Qingdao

So I have arrived in the sleepy seaside town of Qingdao. Its hot, 32•C, but there is a bit of a breeze and its all good.

The flight was uneventful save for a very pleasant upgrade to business class. This meant I got a lunch while the plebs in rows 9 and back got nothing! I had the seafood which turned out to be some shrimp thing washed down with lashings of a Chardonnay that could only have come from a cardboard box.

I have wandered down from the Hotel to the downtown area which is fairly lively given its Friday afternoon. After a wayward glance at Google maps I managed to stumble across "Coffee Street" and just paid ≈ ₩3000 for a single espresso. I guess it doesn't matter where in the world you are you will always pay a premium to look like a wanker. (I mean "drink good coffee")

Not particularly impressed with the Ibis Qingdao Donghai - 200RMB deposit on a room that doesn't have a mini bar!? Will have them on about that when I get back I think. Plus the view in my room is of someone else's room. Mind you at $USD19 a night whataya gonna do?

The only saving grace is that the internet is pretty fast (save for Facebook and Twitter which are of course non-existent.) The mobile internet is painfully slow too. But hey! The rest of the world can't all be Korea now, can it.

More soon (in lieu of tweets etc.)
